About Us

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 16, 1920 at Howard University in Washington D.C. The founders, who we refer to as “The Five Pearls” are Arizona Cleaver Stemons, Pearl Anna Neal, Myrtle Tyler Faithful, Viola Tyler Goings, and Fannie Pettie Watts. We give homage to our founders and their ability to lead the way to the work you see being done by the members of the organization. The work done is guided by our principles. Our principles are Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood.

The Upsilon Eta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was chartered on Friday, March 11, 2005 by Andrea Cousins, Desiree Jackson-McCray, Raven Johnson, Leah Taylor, and Seneca Weatherspoon. The chapter then went dormant in 2010.

In the spring of 2014, 10th PA State Director, Barbara Cousar, envisioned a commonwealth with all PA chapters active and asked that Lambda Lambda Zeta Graduate Chapter of the City of Pittsburgh take on the charge. On October 24, 2014, Upsilon Eta Zeta Chapter was reactivated by Marquita Brown, Katie George, Dr. Raina Jackson, Dr. Ketwana Schoos, and Ronniqua Willie.
